Y'all! I cannot believe it has been over three months since I have posted anything for you to enjoy. It's been an emotional and hectic summer into the fall and now I can sit down and share what I have learned with you! First- Thanks for coming back to visit :) I've taken time to find recipes that fit in my Macros (daily fat, protein and carb count) in order to see the results I want for the upcoming pageant I plan to compete in. Second- I've fallen in love with a product company called AdvoCare. It is great! I came to them with little knowledge on the company and got hooked as soon as I tried "Spark", their amino acid energy supplement. Best tasting and greatest results I've EVER seen.. and I've tried a lot. Third- I've stopped crossfitting on the whole and have joined what I affectionately call "Globo Gym." I have started incorporating specific cardio into my daily routine, spend days focusing on certain muscle groups and have really learned to love this new routine for me. Finally, I feel so much healthier these days. I've cut weight, began to see a difference in my muscle definition, have more energy and just feel good. I know I have a few things to thank for this: my improved diet, increased cardio and AdvoCare on a whole. I am such a skeptic when it comes to fitness, health and weightless products that I was shocked I felt so strongly about them as soon as I tried them. I have decided to share this new found love with all of my friends, family and followers as I become and AdvoCare advisor. I am THRILLED to help my friends and family kick start their weight loss, help my mommy friends get their energy back, and my athlete friends improve their performance. If a skeptic like me can fall for these products it really means they work. I trust them and would never share with my friends a product that isn't quality and worth every cent. And Mr. Curtis is a fan. A legitimate, sign me up for the challenge, I love Spark, FAN. That sold me on AdvoCare immediately. Ohhhh yeah.. Y'all probably want a recipe, huh? I have to give credit to Erica for this simple yet super satisfying snack 1 hardboiled egg 1tbsp hummus Simply remove yolk and fill with hummus. Filling and delicious. And a real recipe: BBQ Bacon Sliders sans Bun 2 pounds grassfed ground beef or bison 2 tablespoons tomato paste 6 pieces all natural nitrate free bacon 2 sweet potatoes sliced in 1/4 inch- 1/2 inch slices ¾ teaspoon apple cider vinegar ½ teaspoon liquid smoke 1 teaspoon dijon mustard ½ teaspoon sea salt ¼ teaspoon black pepper ½ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon paprika Preheat grill to medium-high. Preheat oven to 400 Combine all of the ingredients Gently form beef into 8 1-inch-thick patties, about 2 inches in diameter. Make an indentation in the top of each patty. Grill burgers 3 minutes. Flip and grill 4 minutes for medium-rare or until they are cooked to your preference. **Adapted from AAG* Place sweet potato slices on cookie sheet, spray with oil and cook for 25 minutes Place burger on sweet potato as a bun, top with bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato or for a nice twist, top with red peppers and feta crumbles. Finish with another slice of sweet potato. Enjoy! |

I didn't die. I didn't quit blogging. I didn't give up the internet. Life just got WAY busy and it's hard to get back on track after you have fallen off.
I feel that way about exercise, diet, hobbies, really anything that you consciously make an effort to do as part of your routine can hard to start up again after a break. For me, we had birthdays, beach trips, Virginia trips, end of the school year, and I spent the last month evaluating my diet, training and goals. Well, I've officially started the Whole Life Challenge. Yesterday began 8 weeks of super healthy living. This includes getting rid of alcohol. My thing is, I'm content with alcohol in my life, so I am going to make this challenge something more practical for me. I'll take my points away for the drinks whenever I have them, and not restrict myself when I want one. I will, however, increase my running, add more cardio to my weight training, and clean up my diet universally. I just think it's wrong and rather pointless to ask me to not have a beer on the patio when its 80 degrees at 7pm. Of course yesterday I started the challenge with a lunch with family that included a beer. I didn't feel guilty. I didn't feel sad. I ordered a WLC compliant dish and consumed water the rest of the day.
My point is, every person needs something different form this challenge. I would like to decrease my body fat and tone up. But I don't have 30 pounds to lose so I am not going to go "extreme". I'm going to remain happy, not want to kill every person I talk to, not binge my brains out when I do decide to fail, and be positive in any results I see. Again, to each his own. Tonight I did a redo of my buffalo chicken zingers with some sweet potato fries, homemade paleo ranch and homemade paleo spicy sauce. It was delicious. I got the ranch recipe http://paleogrubs.com/ranch-dressing-recipe from there. I purchased mason jars from Target and use them to store my paleo mayo in. Definitely worth it :) Oh and I guess I'll share this EASYYYY yummy salad Ingredients: 1 container organic spinach 1 container strawberries 1/4 cup slivered almonds 3 teaspoons balsamic vinegar 1tsp lemon juice Directions: Wash strawberries and spinach. Slice 3/4 of the strawberries, toss in spinach, add almonds. With an immersion blender or a food processor, add the rest of the strawberries, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar and blend until desired texture for dressing. Toss Salad and enjoy :) Hello Friends. What a failure I have been at posting lately. Drew (for those of you who haven’t gathered this by now.. he’s the ‘ol man’ in my life {super classy making a biker reference.. got it}) was gone for a week, home for two days, gone for a month, home for a week, gone for a week. Have I mentioned how I adore the army? No? Weird…Drew is the sole reason I even dove into the Paleo lifestyle. He complains and I usually listen. Unless it’s laundry. I’ll never change my inability to get laundry done time efficiently. So sometimes when he is out of town I cheat hard on my diet. Sometimes I rock it. Sometimes I drink lots of beer. Whatever the case usually is, I have just been extremely busy in and out of the house over the last 8 weeks that the blog fell by the wayside.
